Showing Others That You Value Them

Medicine is about helping others, right? OK, so when should I start helping others? After I finish residency? Maybe after I finish medical school? How about when I get accepted to medical school?
How about Right Now. One of the best things you can do to improve your chances of acceptance to medical school is to show that you really like helping other people. You want to help other people? Good … then do it.
Don’t wait for permission, and don’t wait to find the ‘perfect’ situation. Find a ‘good enough’ situation, then take steps toward shaping that situation into something more perfect with your choices, creativity and enthusiasm. Offer solutions to any problems that appear to be chronic. Contribute more than you take. Solve more problems.
Valuing other people starts with making contributions to the outside world.
