MBA essay prompt #2 – “What led you to pursue an MBA?”

Show the admissions committee that your primary motive is to use your MBA as a tool to further your specific personal career goals. The MBA isn’t like an undergraduate degree. Undergraduate degress are a casual exploration of a topic that and a benchmark certification to show employers that you can follow directions and thrive in a challenging environment. The purpose of an MBA is more targeted: MBA schools want to see that you have a plan, and they want you to connect your MBA training to your plans. General answers to this question, like, “This seems like the logical step after a bachelor’s degree,” or, “I want to make more money,” aren’t specific and convincing.

MBA essay prompt #3 – “What are your short and long term professional/career goals?”

Like the previous prompt, the most compelling answer to this prompt is to present an attitude of diligence, consistency and a clear plan of action that demonstrates your foresight and ambition. Relate your current professional position with a long-term plan of action that keeps career advancement as the forefront of your response.
