The AAMC just announced that the earliest submission date for AMCAS has been pushed from June 4th to June 10th!
Why?
Usually they’re working out last-minute bugs and details of the web script, database, etc. It’s a good thing.
Consequences
Everyone has more time to get everything ready in time for the date, so now it’s even more important that you to be ready, too.
However – for some, complacency kicks in. Some applicants are like ‘whew, now i can rest a bit more before I start to think about this stuff’ — that’s good for those students who are on top of it, bad for the complacent ones.
Final point
Submitting your application is not the end; you need transcripts, letters of rec and secondaries all submitted before your application goes to committees to be considered.
Bottom line: If you’re early or first with EVERYTHING, your odds of acceptance go up.
