AMCAS Submission Date Pushed Back to June 10th!

June 4, 2013 by Don Osborne 1 Comment

The AAMC just announced that the earliest submission date for AMCAS has been pushed from June 4th to June 10th!

Why?
Usually they’re working out last-minute bugs and details of the web script, database, etc. It’s a good thing.

Consequences
Everyone has more time to get everything ready in time for the date, so now it’s even more important that you to be ready, too.

However – for some, complacency kicks in. Some applicants are like ‘whew, now i can rest a bit more before I start to think about this stuff’ — that’s good for those students who are on top of it, bad for the complacent ones.

Final point
Submitting your application is not the end; you need transcripts, letters of rec and secondaries all submitted before your application goes to committees to be considered.

Bottom line: If you’re early or first with EVERYTHING, your odds of acceptance go up.

Make sure you have everything figured out, and use the extra six days to your advantage. These additional resources will help you complete your application in time:

  • Letters of recommendation – Great Letters of Recommendation
  • Secondaries – How to Write the Medical School Secondary Application
