Ohio Is a Friendly Place — Considering the Ohio State University School of Medicine

October 16, 2014 by Don Osborne Leave a Comment

This is part of an ongoing series on some of the most popular colleges for pre-meds and med students. You are welcome to add your comments and suggestions! -Don Osborne

Do you currently reside in Columbus, Ohio as a pre-med? Are you a pre-med at Ohio State University? I know what you’re thinking, you’re liking considering applying to The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Good call, but bear in mind it’s a selective school. Let’s look at some stats:

  • Number of applicants — 5,651
  • Number of matriculants — 188
  • In-state and out-of-state matriculants — 54.8% / 45.2%
  • Average GPA — 3.7
  • Average MCAT score — 34

Columbus is a vibrant city and a booming one. It was named No. 1 in up-and-coming tech cities by Forbes and ranks consistently high in one of the best cities in the US. Most famously, you can visit the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium which is a popular destination site for tourists and students alike. I would recommend applying, but before you do that, be sure to check out admission counseling to make sure you show your best on the application.
