Vibrant, Safe, and Beautiful — The University of California, Irvine is as Peaceful as It Gets

August 28, 2014 by Don Osborne Leave a Comment

This is part of an ongoing series on some of the most popular colleges for pre-meds and med students. You are welcome to add your comments and suggestions! -Don Osborne

Are you a pre-med student at the University of California, Irvine and/or are you a pre-med living in the area around Irvine, CA? You are probably then considering the School of Medicine at the University of California at Irvine. Here are some stats to help you consider your application:

  • Number of applicants — 5,773
  • Number of matriculants — 104
  • In-state and out-of-state matriculants — 90.4% / 9.6%
  • Average GPA — 3.77
  • Average MCAT score — 33

From students I’ve spoken to, Irvine is a very active city that is growing by the year. It definitely it is a bang for your buck considering the beaches, the beautiful weather, and the high-end malls that are close by. A very lax environment that would definitely suit a medical student. So think about applying and if you need a little extra help to keep yourself on track, check out this nifty tool to see if this school (and all your others choices) are in reach.
